January 2007: EFMI & the QFC in negociations.
After continued success in 2006 in Northern Africa, EFMI is to branch out to the Middle East. Discussions with the Qatar QFC are currently in progress and the company is hopeful of obtaining licensing agreements by April 2007. EFMI has built a solid reputation in Northern Africa and its expansion in Qatar is seen as a natural process.
December 2006: EFMI to expand its operations in the Far East.
EFMI is to expand its operations in Asia. The company expects to open its Hong Kong offices by mid May 2007. The company is in the process of completing its licensing agreements with the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers. Hong Kong will increase its presence in the Far East and enable the company to work closer with its Far East partners.
June 2006: Royal Skandia launches The Global Best Ideas Fund
Royal Skandia launched its Global Ideas Fund in June 2006. The Fund’s concept was quite elementary and innovative. Invite ten of the world’s best fund managers and ask them to pick their ten best stock ideas and wrap them in a single fund. The result is Skandia’s Global Best Ideas Fund. The fund comprises Tom Walker from Martin Currie, Nathan Gibbs from Schroders, Richard Plackett from Merrill Lynch, Stephen Whittaker from New Star, Mark Tyndall from Artemis, Hugh Young from Aberdeen, Roger Whiteoak from AXA Framlington, Ashley Willing from Gartmore, Crispin Odey from Odey Asset Management.
